DEALING WITH CRA

Duration
3 hours + Optional Q&A Recording
CPD CPD Certificate
Category
Tax Practice
This course combines deep technical content with real-world strategy. It is ideal for practitioners who regularly deal with CRA reviews, correspondence, or disputes and want to improve both outcomes and efficiency.

You will explore how CRA's administrative processes actually work, what their legal powers allow, and how to reduce exposure to interest, penalties, and reassessment risk. Through practical examples, the presenters show how to prepare clients for audits, protect privilege, use fairness and voluntary disclosure provisions, and defend against misrepresentation claims.
After completing this program, you will be confident with:
  • Managing CRA verification requests, audits, and reassessments from start to finish
  • Knowing when and how to object, appeal, or negotiate, and how to prevent costly procedural errors
  • Identifying common CRA mistakes and applying due diligence defenses to protect clients
  • Preparing and defending fairness applications and voluntary disclosures, including supporting documentation
  • Understanding CRA's expanded powers, privilege issues, and compliance obligations under new legislation
This course is essential if you are responsible for:
  • Preparing or reviewing returns and forms that attract CRA verification (T1135, foreign income, employment expenses, etc.)
  • Communicating with CRA on behalf of individual, corporate, or trust clients
  • Advising clients on penalty relief, voluntary disclosure, or fairness applications
